Behind the Scenes: The Reality of Taking My Own Photos

The Real Story Behind My Selfies

When I decided to take a few selfies for my website, I imagined professional, polished shots that show who I am and what I do. What I didn’t expect was the chaos behind the scenes.

Behind the Scenes: A True Photography Adventure

To set the scene — I was doing a wall sit against my front door, trying to hold a pose while no-see-ums swarmed me. My tripod stood in a dangerously unstable position, and each time I adjusted the angle, a fresh cloud of bugs arrived to feast. I’m almost certain at least one mosquito made a cameo in every shot.

Photography: My Favorite Kind of Magic

That’s the beauty of photography. The final images look smooth and intentional, but the process behind the lens? Pure chaos. And honestly, that’s what makes photography feel like magic to me — it turns everyday messiness into something beautiful.

A Reminder of Why I Love What I Do

This experience reminded me why I love helping others tell their stories through photos. I understand how awkward posing can feel and how much effort goes into capturing one great shot. It’s not about being perfect — it’s about creating images that feel true to you, even if the process involves a little bit of chaos.
